Air source heat pumps

A heat pump is a device for converting low temperature heat to a higher temperature.

Most domestic heat pumps operate in a similar way to a refrigerator but in reverse.

An air source heat pumps (ASHP) extracts heat from the external air and produces heat for space heating and, if required, domestic hot water heating purposes.

To guide you through these, the National Skills Academy have recently produced a series of consumer guides.
