Why train with the Skills Academy?

Employers and employees using the National Skills Academy for Environmental Technologies will receive the highest quality training, delivered by providers with state-of-the-art facilities and taught by tutors with the most up to date knowledge.

Because of the Skills Academy's unique network structure, you can be trained locally but have access to nationally co-ordinated accredited training on the full range of environmental technologies that you would not receive through one provider alone.

The National Skills Academy benefits at-a-glance:

  • Training meets the requirements of Microgeneration Certification Scheme accreditation - only MCS-accredited installers can be used by customers wanting to access Feed-in-Tariff, Renewable Heat Incentive and other funding
  • Training meets the requirements to be a Green Deal Installer – only approved installers can install Green Deal measures
  • Training is industry-recognised, accredited and linked to the QCF, a national qualification framework which ensures skills are formally recognised
  • Training providers deliver approved qualifications using the latest facilities, products, technology and industry knowledge
  • Individuals trained through the National Skills Academy are able to join our Trained Installer Register, which is used by Green Deal Providers, developers, local authorities and homeowners to find installers who are properly trained to carry out environmental technology and energy efficiency installations and maintenance.
