What will I learn?

Level 3 Award – Installation of Heat Pump Systems (Non-refrigerant Circuits)

This covers the installation of ground and air source heat pump systems, including:

  • Know the requirements to install commission and handover heat pump systems (non-refrigerant circuits)
  • Install, commission and handover heat pump systems (non-refrigerant circuits)

Level 3 Award - Installation and Maintenance of Heat Pump Systems (Non-refrigerant Circuits)

This course covers the installation and maintenance of ground and air source heat pump systems, including:

  • Know the requirements to install commission and handover heat pump systems (non-refrigerant circuits)
  • Install, commission and handover heat pumps (non-refrigerant circuits)
  • Know the requirements to inspect, service and maintain heat pump system installations (non-refrigerant circuits)
  • Inspect, service and maintain heat pump installations (non-refrigerant circuits)
The installation award is an integral requirement of the installation and maintenance qualification. If the installation award has already been completed as a stand-alone qualification, it will be credited and the course time reduced accordingly.

For both qualifications, the Level 3 Award in Understanding the Fundamental Principles and Requirements of Environmental Technology Systems is an integral requirement of the award, but will be credited if you have already completed it as a stand-alone award, or have achieved it within another technology.

Entry requirements

  • N/SVQ Level 2/3 in either Plumbing, Heating and Ventilating, Oil-Fired Technical Services, Gas Installation and Maintenance, approved equivalent, JIB-PMES/CSCS card or Engineering Services SKILLcard
In addition, if not included in the above current certification in relation to:
  • Water Regulations/Water Byelaws (WRAS or equivalent)
  • Energy Efficiency for Domestic Heating
If you're unable to meet these entry requirements, your local hub will be able to help with additional assessment and training if required.
Assessment for each course is via a practical assessment and an online test.
