Overview

Draughts are unwanted sources of ventilation in a building that let in too much cold air causing discomfort and also waste too much heat due to unnecessary air changes in rooms.

Draughts occur through windows, loft hatches, doors - including keyholes, letterboxes, windows, suspended floors, wall penetrations by pipes/cables etc. and celing to wall joints.

To guide you through these, the National Skills Academy have recently produced a series of consumer guides.
